Women's Issues

The term perinatal refers to the period before and after birth. This is an important and special time in women’s lives and may bring many complicated and conflicting feelings. Our therapists have experience working with women regarding conception, infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, birth, the post-partum period, and motherhood. We aim to help you digest and make meaning of the changes and challenges in this natural period in your life. We periodically offer groups on these topics, as well as individual and couples sessions related to these issues.

Pregnancy Loss Group

Have you suffered from the loss of one or more pregnancies? The loss of a pregnancy brings up many difficult feelings and is often a silent grief. Even if your conscious mind isn't thinking about loss, your unconscious mind and body may be dealing with feelings of anger, grief, sadness, and shame. Regardless of whether your loss was recent or occurred in the past, we understand your need for support. This support group will offer a space for women to talk about their experience & feelings in community with others. Using talk therapy & relaxation techniques we will process grief and loss, reframing and meaning, and holding hope for the future. Women with losses at any time in pregnancy are welcome.

This group meets on the last Thursday of every other the month at 3400A West Esplanade Ave in Metairie.  Please call Victoria Judge, LCSW at 504-309-6267 for more information and to reserve your spot at the next meeting. Walk-ins welcome.
